Six aged care facilities in Tasmania will receive more than $31 million in funding to expand and upgrade services, giving older Tasmanians access to modern facilities, more beds and specialised care.
This investment from the Albanese Government will mean refurbished rooms, new residential wings and dedicated Memory Support Units, helping older people stay in their local communities while receiving the care they need.
The funding is part of a $300 million national boost through the Aged Care Capital Assistance Program (ACCAP), which is improving access to high-quality residential care and housing for aged care workers in regional areas.
Projects supported in Tasmania include:
- Aged Care Deloraine, Grenoch Home, Deloraine – $18 million to build a new 40-bed residential aged care wing.
- Medea Park Nursing Home, St Helens – $7.9 million to refurbish 30 resident rooms, reconfigure the facility layout, and upgrade telecommunications.
- Respect Group, Fred French, Launceston – $2.8 million to convert an offline wing into an 11-bed Memory Support Unit.
- Calvary Aged Care Servies, Sandhill, South Launceston – $1.75 to convert an existing wing into a 12-bed Memory Support Unit.
- Wintringham Hobart Residential Service, Hobart – $38,260 to refit internal doors, walkway lighting and install security gate.
- Southern Cross Care, Ainslie Low Head – $666,000 to refurbish four unused staff villas.
Nationwide, this round of grants will deliver 315 new or reopened aged care beds, improving access where it is needed most and helping older Australians receive the right care, sooner.
This $300 million funding boost builds on $651 million already invested by the Government through ACCAP since 2022, bringing our total investment to $951 million.
