About West Nile virus infection
West Nile virus infection (including Kunjin virus) is a disease caused by a flavivirus. These diseases spread to humans via the bite of an infected mosquito. Infected people may have no symptoms, or mild flu-like symptoms. In very rare cases, infection can lead to serious complications such as meningitis and encephalitis.
