About SARS
Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is an illness caused by the SARS-associated coronavirus (SARS-CoV). Coronaviruses are found in many different species, including birds and mammals, and include the virus that causes the common cold. SARS was the first time the virus was seen in humans. COVID-19 is caused by another type of coronavirus called SARS‐CoV‐2.
