About salmonellosis

Salmonellosis is a type of gastroenteritis caused by Salmonella bacteria. It is likely to make someone feel sick, possibly with fever, diarrhoea, and vomiting, and it usually lasts for 2 to 7 days.

Surveillance and reporting

Salmonellosis is a nationally notifiable disease

We monitor cases through the National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System (NNDSS) and report data in our salmonella public dataset.
