Primary Health Reform Steering Group

The Primary Health Reform Steering Group provided independent expert advice to guide the development of the Primary Health Care 10 Year Plan. The group ran from October 2019 to September 2021.

Role

The Australian Government established the steering group in October 2019 to provide independent expert advice to guide:

  • the development of the 10 year plan for primary health care reform
  •  implementation of voluntary patient registration.

Members

The Steering Group was co-chaired by Dr Steve Hambleton and Dr Walid Jammal, and included expert representatives from these groups:

  • consumers
  • allied health
  • Indigenous
  • medical
  • mental health
  • nursing
  • rural and remote health
  • practice management organisations
  • state and territory governments.

Meetings

The steering group held 20 meetings. It completed its work by providing recommendations to the Minister for Health and Aged Care in September 2021.
