Star Ratings will soon be available for all residential aged care homes, to help you make an informed choice about an aged care home that's right for you.

Star Ratings provide simple information to help you compare the quality of different aged care homes.

Aged care homes will receive an Overall Star Rating and a rating for against four sub-categories.

Residents’ Experience:

Residents are asked a series of questions about their experience at their aged care home. Questions include: “Do you get the care you need?” and “Do you like the food here?”

Compliance:

Compliance looks at whether the aged care home is meeting its obligations to provide safe, quality care and services.

Staffing:

Staffing measures the amount of care from a registered nurse, enrolled nurse or personal care worker to residents in the home

Five Quality Measures:

This looks at instances of falls, pressure injuries, unplanned weight loss, the use of physical restraint and medications.
