Reform Implementation Video Series – Consumer protections

This video explains the consumer price protections in place for older people on the Support at Home program

1:05

Welcome to our next instalment in our Aged Care Update video series.

We're strengthening protections for older people with a new consumer protections package.

Responding to feedback received from community, providers and advocates, we will empower the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission to order refunds for services where providers are found to be overcharging.

Back the Older Person's Advocacy Network to expand financial advocacy and legal support, fund the Council and the Ageing to deliver financial education and publish a new national summary of support at home prices each quarter.

This will ensure older people get the care that they need at reasonable prices.

The Government will also take the time needed to get broader price settings right and wait to implement price caps until we've greater competence in market stability.

As part of this, we'll continue monitoring pricing trends and consider additional protections if required.

Stay well and see you next time.
