My name is Professor Ian Frazer. I’m an Immunologist and co-creator of one of the world’s first cancer preventing vaccines.

I’ve been working with the science of vaccination for nearly 50 years, and today I’d like to share some knowledge with you.

COVID-19 vaccines have a vital role to play in protecting our health, our communities – and our way of life.

For this reason, it’s important we achieve high levels of the COVID-19 vaccine across the country.

The vaccines which are approved here in Australia have been rigorously tested by the Therapeutic Goods Administration, the TGA, who found them to be highly effective in preventing serious illness and death from COVID-19.

By getting vaccinated, we will protect not only ourselves, but also those vulnerable members of our community– such as older Australians or those with serious illnesses who may not be able to have a vaccine.

While the vaccine rollout continues, it’s important to keep up the COVIDSafe behaviours we adopted during the pandemic.

Hand hygiene, physical distancing and staying home when feeling unwell and getting tested have all helped stop the spread of COVID-19 in our communities.

Getting a vaccine has never been so important, so keep up these COVIDSafe behaviours – and get your COVID-19 vaccine when it’s your turn.

And if you have questions or concerns about the vaccine, always ensure you get information you can trust from a reliable source.
