Grace Davey, Practice Manager: The Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program is a fantastic program.
Dr Adriana Duran, General Practitioner: And really promoting good healthcare is really worth it.
Grace Davey: We decided to go bulk billing for a couple reasons. It's obviously much more beneficial for patients, but it allows us to bring more GPs here with more patients and kind of serve a wider community, which has been really great as well.
Helen Psaila, Assistant Manager: Patients leave. If they can't afford to see a GP, they leave. We had mixed billing patients, but now the clinic's buzzing again. We're happy as staff working here and to see the patients that are coming back that left and the smile on their face, amazing, amazing.
Grace Davey: Obviously, the GPs were concerned how their billings would be affected. It's quite a scary thing to go from mixed billing to bulk billing. However, using the financial calculator really helped us communicate and be able to visually show our GPs what the difference in billings would be and kind of ease their worries or concerns about any drops. It was fantastic.
Dr Adriana Duran: And on the other hand, they always talk about quality of healthcare linked to a private billing. How do you separate that? Every GP is always going to give the best of them, private or not private.
Grace Davey: With bulk billing appointments, there's more time and space to kind of go over multiple aspects of health rather than, you know, putting out like a fire. And so there's a real kind of continuity of care that's coming through with bulk billing.
Helen Psaila: If there's other clinics out there that are thinking of it. I say, go for it. Go and do the bulk billing. It's the best thing a clinic can do for their patients.
Grace Davey: What you can get out of it is just incredible, and we've seen it in as little as a month. For more information, visit the website [health.gov.au/BBIPP].
