Ernst and Young reviewed the state of CVD programs in the 2000s. The review was based on the National service improvement framework for heart, stroke and vascular disease (NSIF).
The review found that:
- prevention is important to decrease people’s risk of CVD
- since it was published in 2006, states and territories have not fully used the NSIF
- a national action plan for CVD could help to decrease the burden of CVD in Australia.
The report made 7 main recommendations and 10 other recommendations on ways to improve CVD management.
