Meeting summary – Meeting 21 (29 June 2026)

The Psychosocial Project Group held its 21st meeting virtually on 29 June 2026.

Members noted the outcomes from the most recent Joint Health and Mental Health Ministers meeting on 13 February 2026, including:

  • Ministers’ agreement to commission additional work on increasing nationally coordinated psychosocial supports
  • Ministers also noted that funding for psychosocial supports will be maintained, including in a future national agreement.

The Psychosocial Project Group noted early, preliminary and non-binding discussions between Commonwealth and state and territory senior officials have commenced on possible approaches to increase nationally coordinated psychosocial supports.  

The Psychosocial Project Group discussed advice to senior officials to support their discussions on psychosocial supports, including:

  • service models across the stepped care continuum  
  • workforce roles and scopes of practice.  

Members will continue to refine their advice over the coming weeks.
