The National Strategic Action Plan for Macular Disease identifies the most effective interventions to reduce the burden of macular disease.

The plan has 4 pillars:

  1. Prevention and early detection – Prevention and early detection of macular disease. Prevention of vision loss and blindness.
  2. Treatment – Access to treatments and services that provide the best outcomes.
  3. Support – Support that enables affected Australians to fully participate in their communities.
  4. Data and research – Improved capture and use of data to strengthen research programs.
