National Digital Mental Health Framework

The National digital mental health framework aims to support an integrated and strategic approach to digital mental health service delivery and inform future funding decisions by governments.

Action 32 of the Fifth National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Plan committed to develop a National Digital Mental Health Framework (the Framework). This action sat under Priority Area 8: Ensuring that the enablers of effective system performance and system improvement are in place.

In August 2019, the then Mental Health Principal Committee agreed to a Commonwealth project plan to scope and develop the Framework. The Department subsequently engaged Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) and established an advisory group to support PwC’s work in developing the Framework.

The Framework Final Report details the approach taken to scope and develop the Framework including:

  • an assessment of the current state of the digital mental health ecosystem,
  • national sector consultations, and
  • the development of the final National Digital Mental Health Framework.
