The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing commissioned a Privacy Impact Assessment to consider the privacy impacts of two enduring data linkage projects which involve linking data held in the National Cancer Screening Register (NCSR) with:

  • Information in the Australian Bureau of Statistics’ (ABS) Person Level Integrated Data Asset (PLIDA)
  • Information in the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare’s National Health Data Hub (NHDH)

The Projects will create enduring data linkages to facilitate the provision of data and information across the cancer continuum and enable comprehensive person-level research and analysis in relation to lung, cervical and bowel cancer and screening.

The report includes 19 recommendations for the department to minimise or eradicate privacy impacts.
