Guide to Aged Care Law

Appropriation

This section sets out how the Act authorises spending on subsidies, and when different arrangements may apply under other laws.

The appropriation provision in the Act provides legal authority to spend money from the Consolidated Revenue Fund for the payment of subsidies under the Act. Chapter 4 explains subsidies.

[Chapter 8 – Part 8]

The only exception is when the Repatriation Commission or the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission accept responsibility for a subsidy amount in accordance with another law. In these circumstances, another appropriation would be required to provide authority to spend the amount for a particular purpose.
