The Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the FOI Act) provides the Australian community with a right of access to documents held by most Australian Government agencies and to official documents held by Ministers. Individuals can also request access to, or amendment of, their personal information held by the department.
The Freedom of Information (FOI) Operational Manual sets out how the department will process FOI access and amendment requests.
