Description:

The Common Operating Picture shows the epidemiological and public health COVID-19 situation in each state and territory, as well as nationally.

It also explains the thresholds we use for a specific indicator to move from green to amber to red.

The data comes from various sources, including:

  • the National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System (NNDSS)
  • the Critical Health Resource Information System
  • aged care facility report
  • modelling
  • reports from state and territory health departments.

As things change quickly, data in this report might be revised retrospectively, and might vary from data reported in published NNDSS and state and territory reports.

This document must be looked at in its entirety, to enable a common sense approach, informed by public health expertise; for example, a single ‘amber’ or ‘red’ flag does not necessarily mean we must take further actions.

We understand that the document has accessibility and usability issues, and are working on addressing this.
