Description:

The Government will fund a new national strategy to tackle excessive out of pocket costs charged by medical specialists. This will be the first stage of the Government’s response to the Ministerial Advisory Committee’s report on out of pocket costs – all of whose recommendations we strongly support. The strategy will focus on making the fees that medical specialists charge their patients publicly available and more transparent.

This strategy will help reduce the burden of ‘bill shock’ and provide patients – and their referring doctors – with the information they need to make informed choices about their care.
