Bringing a place into effect
For the 2026–27 allocation process, MPSP places will be allocated out of effect. This is because the registered provider may need to take further steps to ensure that the additional physical bed is ready and properly staffed. While an allocated place is out of effect, no additional funding is provided.
A registered provider can bring a place into effect at any time within 5 years of the place being allocated. Places provisionally allocated under the old Act can also be brought into effect at any time prior to 31 October 2030.
Information about requirements related to bringing a place into effect can be found within Section 5 of the Multi-Purpose Service Program Manual and Multi-Purpose Service Program (MPSP): guidance on places allocation processes for 2026–27.
MPSP providers should use this form to apply to bring additional places into effect:

Where the department approves an application to bring places into effect, the MPSP team will liaise with the relevant providers to update funding agreement and payment arrangements.
