About the program
The Print Disability Services Program (PDSP) offers accessible materials for people with print disability.
If you have books, brochures, essays, games, photos, or other printed material that you would like presented in a different way, this program can help.
Printed material can be turned into large print, audio, braille, or digital files.
Who can use this free service?
This service is for anyone who has:
- low vision or is blind
- physical disability that makes it hard to hold or handle printed materials
- learning or literacy difficulties that affect reading.
Who provides the service?
Two organisations currently funded to provide this service are:
- Vision Australia
- VisAbility
They will work with you to convert your materials into the format you need.
What printed material can be converted?
Many types of printed materials can be converted, including:
- books and textbooks
- brochures, flyers, magazines
- legal documents
- essays and reports
- cards and games
- photos and sheet music.
Don’t worry if your printed material isn’t listed, ask the organisations and they’ll let you know what is possible.
What formats can the printed material be converted into?
You can choose from a range of accessible formats:
- Braille
- audio (such as CDA/MP3)
- large print
- tactile graphics
- E-text (down-loadable format)
- accessible PDF
- Digital Accessible Information System (DAISY)
