National Disability Conference Initiative

Funding for conference organisers for the inclusion and participation of people with disability.

About the initiative

The National Disability Conference Initiative (NDCI) provides funding to support nationally focussed, disability related conferences held within Australia.

Each year there is an open, competitive grant round. Eligible conference organisers can apply for the grant to include people with disability at national disability-focused conferences. NDCI is delivered as part of a commitment to Australia’s Disability Strategy 2021–2031.

These funds can be used to:

  • Help people with disability with the costs of attending conferences. This can include:
    • conference fees
    • accommodation
    • travel inside Australia
  • Help family members or carers who support a person with disability with the costs of attending a conference. This can include:
    • conference fees
    • accommodation
    • travel inside Australia
  • Make conferences more accessible. This can include:
    • accessible materials
    • Auslan interpreters
    • assistive computer devices or software
    • aids or appliances
    • other costs to make the venue accessible.
