How the framework helps people working with children
The National Best Practice Framework for Early Childhood Intervention provides guidance to non-practitioners, including early childhood education and care services, schools, community services, and government agencies. It helps make sure that policies, standards and regulations follow the principles outlined in the framework.
The framework includes information for government departments and agencies to make sure policies support the funding and implementation of evidence-informed ECI practice.
Policy makers, program designers and regulators will benefit from understanding the full framework and supporting documents.
Applying best practice for people working with children
These guides, along with the framework itself, can help you understand key considerations for supporting best practice in ECI. We have guides for:
- early childhood educators
- referrers to early childhood intervention
- policy makers.
How we’ll know it’s working
We’ll know that the framework is working when communities:
- are caring and culturally safe
- are confident and committed to including everyone, embracing people with different abilities, backgrounds and circumstances
- are accessible and provide authentic opportunities for participation
- are connected and integrated, prioritising clear communication and genuine collaboration
- provide opportunities to gain knowledge, skills and resources
- are welcoming and inclusive places for all children and their families to live, grow, play and connect
- are committed to the development and wellbeing of all children
- provide community members with safe and easy to navigate environments, easy access to family friendly and culturally safe healthcare, recreational, educational services and facilities
- enable timely access to a range of support services to address any additional parental and family needs, such as mental or physical health concerns.
