About the Research Data Infrastructure initiative
The Research Data Infrastructure initiative will provide $100 million over 10 years between 2024–25 and 2033–34 to invest in national research data infrastructure.
This initiative will have a focus on strategic investment in data registries, biobanks and data linkage platforms to enable and enhance Australian medical research. This will include supporting infrastructure that makes evidence-based care easier for health professionals, drives efficient use of resources and advances healthcare.
Why it is important
Science progresses faster when researchers can work together and use each other’s data.
This initiative will support national data infrastructure that helps researchers to collect, share and analyse data more widely. Access to health data:

Objectives
The objective of this initiative is to support strategic investments that establish and extend national research data infrastructure to support world-class health and medical research.

Who we work with
The Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) funds the initiative.
Our Health and Medical Research Office oversees this and other MRFF initiatives.
