Funding under the Information, Linkages and Capacity Building Program

The Information, Linkages and Capacity Building Program (ILC Program) provides information and capacity building supports for all people with disability, regardless of whether they are eligible for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

About the ILC program

The ILC Program provides time limited, one-off competitive grant funding to eligible organisations.

The ILC Program aligns with a number of Outcome Areas within Australia’s Disability Strategy 2021-2031. This is the national framework to improve the lives of Australians with disability.

Grant opportunities for the ILC Program were released on Grant Connect and eligible organisations were able to apply for ILC Program funding to support the delivery of activities to:

  • build the capacity of people with disability to participate in their community
  • create opportunities for people with disability to participate by creating more inclusive services and communities.

The ILC Program currently funds eligible organisations to deliver a range of projects and activities for people with disability under the following 4 streams:

1. Individual Capacity Building

Projects to help people with disability build confidence and learn new skills. Activities can also help to connect with others through peer support, mentoring, and self-advocacy.

2. National Information Program

Projects that provide reliable and easy-to-understand information about disability, rights, support options, and services.

3. Economic and Community Participation

Projects that help people with disability take part in work, social activities, and community life.

4. Mainstream Capacity Building

Projects that make everyday places like schools, hospitals, and workplaces more accessible and inclusive.

Applying for grants

You can find grant opportunities and details about current community projects funded by the ILC Program on the Grant Connect website.

There will be no further funding opportunities under the current ILC Program.

ILC Program Reform

The Australian Government is reforming the ILC Program to improve consistency, quality, and national coverage of supports for people with disability, their families and carers.

The Australian Government is expected to announce future funding opportunities under a reformed ILC Program in the first half of 2026.
