Health Workforce Scholarship Program (HWSP)

A program that provides scholarships and bursaries to existing health professionals committed to rural service. It supports the cost of completing postgraduate and short courses, attending accredited industry conferences, or completing vocational education and training courses.

Health Workforce Scholarship Program

The HWSP provides funding to the health workforce in rural areas to help upskill participants through professional development and training that will benefit your community.

The program provides funding to support the costs of completing postgraduate courses, short courses, workshops, conferences and seminars.

Health Workforce Scholarship Program funding is available to health professionals in these sectors:

  • medical
  • nursing
  • midwifery
  • allied health
  • dental
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health professionals in the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) 
  • non-government organisations
  • private practice.

The HWSP has been extended to 2023–24 and 2024–25.
