Information for BBPIP registered practices and providers

Find information related to the Bulk Billing Practice Incentive Program (BBPIP) for registered practices and providers.

Monitor claims and BBPIP payments

Eligibility assessments are available through Services Australia. Practices and providers can use:

  • Forecast assessments to monitor and confirm eligibility for BBPIP incentive payments and check if there are any issues with registration or eligible item claims.
  • Final assessments to confirm if you have met all BBPIP requirements and view the corresponding incentive payment after the end of the quarter.
  • BBPIP payment details to view the Services Australia incentive payment for each quarterly assessment period, available after the quarter ends.

Payment notices are sent to your HPOS email inbox after the payment is processed. Payments may include reassessment to correct underpayments or overpayments that were not included in previous payments.

Visit the Services Australia website for more information.

Tips to maximise BBPIP benefits and maintain eligibility

Please review these handy tips to ensure you’re set up to receive your BBPIP incentive payments.

  • Check your registration start date
One of the great features of the BBPIP program is the ability to backdate your registration start date when registering. Practices can backdate registration for up to 180 days, but not before 1 November 2025 or the date your practice started operating (organisation site record date).

This feature gives practices time to meet BBPIP program requirements without missing out on incentive payments. Backdating your registration date may also increase your first BBPIP incentive payment amount as it will include all your bulk billing

Your practice’s BBPIP registration start date should be the date your practice commenced bulk billing all eligible services. This date will be when your BBPIP eligibility and payment assessment will begin for your first quarterly BBPIP incentive payment.
  • Add bank account details
To ensure BBPIP incentive payments can be made, practices and providers must add their bank account details to the Services Australia’s website for all BBPIP participating locations.
  • Keep your accreditation details up to date
To be eligible for BBPIP payments, your practice’s Medicare accreditation or accreditation exemption needs to be added to Service Australia’s Organisation Register. It is important that you keep these details up to date. An accreditation exemption is available for practices that are new to MyMedicare and participating in BBPIP.
  • Link all your providers
All eligible providers of GP services at your practice need to be linked to Service Australia’s Organisation Site in the Organisation Register to be eligible for BBPIP, including locums.

Providers who work across multiple locations need to have separate Medicare Provider Numbers (MPN) for each site they work at. Correctly linking providers will ensure all their billing activity will be assessed for your quarterly BBPIP incentive payment.

You cannot use UCC Medicare provider numbers to claim BBPIP payments.

Promoting your participation

We are working hard to ensure publication of healthdirect ‘bulk billing only’ listings and distribution of Medicare Bulk Billing Practice signage orders occur as quickly as possible.

If you experience delays with your NHSD listing being published, or in receiving your BBPIP signage, it will not affect your eligibility to participate in BBPIP.

Just be sure to meet BBPIP healthdirect and signage requirements by:

  • submitting a NHSD service registration form and ordering your practice signage within 24 hours of joining the program
  • displaying signage materials within 5 days of signage material being received.

Stay up to date

We regularly update our FAQs, to provide extra detail on commonly asked questions and new features of the program, so be sure to check back for updates.
