Guide to Aged Care Law

Obligations for providers

Registered providers have to meet certain conditions and obligations in their delivery of aged care services.

The Act and the Rules set obligations for providers. These include conditions providers need to meet to be registered and stay registered. Some obligations apply to all registered providers and some only apply to certain providers.

[Chapter 3 – Part 4 – Division 1 and Division 2 – Subdivision A, Subdivision D]

The obligations aim to promote:

  • Safe and quality services: Providers must deliver safe and quality services that support the rights of older people.
  • Accountability: Providers are responsible for their actions and any incidents that might happen while delivering services.
