1 September 2026 - The HWT provides advice and recommendations to the Health Ministers’ Meeting (HMM) on priority workforce matters. The HWT develops and oversees implementation of a range of workforce strategies to meet current and future health needs of Australians.

30 June 2026 - Under this program, Aboriginal health services (AHSs) in remote areas can order Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) medicines from approved suppliers. The AHSs can then provide these medicines to their patients for free. To get reimbursed, the suppliers submit a payment claim to Services Australia.

28 May 2026 - Australia has eliminated trachoma as a public health problem after decades of effort. It still affects some Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Work continues with states and territories to identify, treat and prevent the condition.

28 April 2026 - This committee (formerly called the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee, or AHPPC) is the key decision-making committee for health emergencies. Australia's Chief Medical Officer chairs the AHPC, which includes all state and territory Chief Health Officers.
