Upcoming changes to offline bed reporting

Residential aged care providers will soon be able to report changes to operational beds in the Government Provider Management System (GPMS).

From 23 March this year, residential aged care providers will be able to report offline beds directly in the GPMS Registered Provider Portal, through the ‘Manage Your Organisation’ tile.

Until then, providers should continue to email the Local Network to record operational beds as offline or to make beds available for use.

Under the Aged Care Act 2024, registered providers must report when operational beds in their approved residential care home are not available for use for:

  • a period of at least 3 months for homes in Modified Monash (MM) 1-5 regions
  • any period of time for homes in MM 6 and 7 regions.

If providers have beds that will be non-operational for 2 years or more, they must vary their registration with the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, instead of taking beds offline.
