Consultation now open on proposed NDIS access changes

The Australian Government is making changes to help secure the future of the NDIS. These reforms aim to improve how the NDIS works while ensuring people with disability continue to receive the supports they need. We are working with the disability community to help shape these changes and understand how they may affect participants, families, carers, providers and workers.

We’re seeking feedback on proposed changes to how people access the NDIS. The proposed changes aim to make access decisions clearer, fairer and more consistent. They focus on how disability affects everyday life.

We want to hear from NDIS participants, people with disability, families, carers, providers, advocates, peak bodies and community members about proposed changes to access. This includes the processes, evidence requirements and draft guiding principles.

Your feedback will help the Technical Advisory Group for NDIS functional capacity develop advice for the Australian Government and ensure the experiences of people with disability help shape future changes to the NDIS.

Public consultation is open until 11.59pm AEDT on 2 October 2026.
