The Cardiovascular Health Mission (the Mission) brings researchers, health professionals, industry and patients together to improve heart health and reduce stroke in Australia.

An external review of the Mission by Policy by Proxy found that the MRFF has contributed significantly to cardiovascular disease and stroke research in Australia.

  • Between 2015 and February 2024, the Australian Government invested $441.7 million in 172 cardiovascular disease and stroke research projects through the MRFF.
  • Stakeholders say the Mission has elevated the importance of cardiovascular disease and stroke research and positioned Australia as a world leader in this research field.
  • The MRFF has increased access to cardiovascular disease and/or stroke clinical trials for approximately 44,900 Australians.

A Mission review panel chaired by Dr Dan Grant guided the review. We thank members for their participation.
