Older people with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) recorded during their aged care assessment will now be given urgent priority for access to their ongoing Support at Home funding.
This will:
- help around 600 people per year
- also apply to older people with MND who have already been approved for ongoing Support at Home funding, including people who moved from the Home Care Packages Program.
Older people who are assigned urgent priority will receive their full funding within one month of approval for Support at Home.
Next steps for older people with MND
- There is no need to be reassessed for Support at Home if you had a diagnosis of MND at the time of your most recent assessment.
- If you are unsure whether your MND diagnosis was recorded during your aged care assessment, you can contact your assessment organisation.
- If you have been diagnosed with MND following your aged care assessment and are waiting for your funding to become available, you can contact My Aged Care to arrange a reassessment so your MND diagnosis can be captured in your new assessment.
