The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisations (ATAGI) have updated their recommendations for people living in the Greater Sydney area. Everyone who is 18 years and older living in Greater Sydney should strongly consider getting vaccinated with any COVID-19 vaccine they can, including the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

In addition, people in areas where outbreaks are occurring can receive the second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine 4 to 8 weeks after the first dose, rather than the usual 12 weeks, to bring forward optimal protection.

The risk of getting very sick from the COVID-19 Delta strain in Greater Sydney is growing every day. It is now much greater than the risk of very rare side effects of the AstraZeneca vaccine. Have a yarn with your healthcare worker about the risks and benefits as soon as possible.

Watch and share a video of Michelle Steele, a Kamilaroi Gomeroi woman from the working in the Department of Health talking through these new ATAGI recommendations.
