The ‘Give Up For Good’ campaign is helping Australians live healthier, nicotine-free lives by empowering them to quit smoking and vaping for good - or to never start.
Designed to help protect people of all ages from the harms of tobacco and nicotine addiction, this new phase of the campaign responds to recent research showing most Australians who smoke or vape are open to, or trying to quit, and are seeking information to help them take the next step.
Building on the success of previous phases, the campaign continues to highlight the health harms of smoking and vaping, while connecting the community with expanded support services and tailored tools to ensure people have the resources they need to quit for good.
The campaign focuses on the reality of nicotine addiction, whilst highlighting the serious health harms of smoking and vaping:
- Tobacco smoking remains the leading cause of preventable death in Australia, claiming an estimated 66 lives every day - that is one death every 22 minutes.
- Vaping can lead to shortness of breath, cause persistent coughing, wheezing and leave you feeling nauseous and dizzy. It may also cause damage to your lungs.
The campaign features tailored advertising and information designed for:
- Young people who vape
- Adults who vape
- Adults who smoke
- First Nations adults who smoke
The campaign is running across television, cinema, digital video and audio, social media, radio and out-of-home channels until June. Innovative ads on the Uber app and streaming 'pause' screens will provide a timely nudge toward healthier choices, reaching Australians in the moments they are most tempted to smoke or vape.
The ‘Give Up For Good’ campaign is part of a broader commitment to protect Australians from the harms of tobacco, vaping, and nicotine addiction, complementing new legislation and stronger enforcement. Since 2024, it has already helped thousands of people take their first step toward a healthier life.
