National Carers Week from 12 to 18 October is a time to raise awareness about the diversity of carers and the important roles they play. You can show your support by:
- Checking in with carers you know
- Offering to help so they can take a break
- Acknowledging and appreciating carers in your workplace or community
- Encouraging carers to look after their own health and wellbeing.
The Australian Government supports carers by helping them stay connected, keep working if they want to, and look after their health while they continue caring for someone.
The National Carer Strategy 2024–2034 is the Government’s national agenda to support Australia’s 3 million unpaid carers.
The Strategy recognises the need for services provided across Australian, state and territory governments to be targeted and easy to navigate. This will help to ensure carers can better balance their caring responsibilities with all aspects of their lives.
