Some population groups in Australia experience greater health challenges than the average population. They can struggle with poor health and wellbeing because of system inequities, social exclusion, and limited access to care. Cultural differences, remote locations and financial hardship can further impact health outcomes.
From 2027-28, the MRFF’s Reducing Health Inequities Mission will invest $150 million over 10 years into research that:
- explores and targets ways of reducing inequalities for people from priority populations. These include First Nations and diverse communities, people who have a disability or people who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community
- improves access to quality health services that are appropriate, safe and welcoming for people from priority populations.
The Reducing Health Inequities Mission Expert Advisory Panel (EAP) is seeking your feedback on a draft Roadmap and Implementation Plan that set the strategic priorities for the mission.
You can have your say by completing an online survey on our consultation hub between 19 August 2026 and 25 September 2026.

Your input will inform any further development of the Roadmap and Implementation Plan by the EAP.
