Helping the Northern Rivers community to heal after the 2022 floods

The Australian Government is providing $3.8 million to help over 200 people left with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after the floods. Funding is from the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF).

The MRFF will support researchers at Southern Cross University to trial a stepped care model to treat chronic disaster-related PTSD.

The clinical trial will include:

  • an arts-based group compassion program
  • group-based MDMA-assisted therapy.

Funding is from the 2022 Clinical Trials Activity grant opportunity under the MRFF’s Clinical Trials Activity initiative.
