Read about the latest Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) grant opportunity.

Audience:
General public

The 2026 Genomics Health Futures grant opportunity will provide up to $74 million for medical research and innovation projects that:

  • develop genomic tools to identify people with a higher risk of cancer and improve screening and targeted treatment. Focus will be on making genomic testing easier to access
  • undertake research that can be scaled up to discover novel genes, increase diagnosis rates, and help model diseases for better targeted therapies or prevention strategies
  • develop new ways to use polygenic risk scores to identify groups of people at high risk for common and complex diseases
  • improve polygenic risk scores so they can more accurately sort people with common cancers for better monitoring and treatment
  • conduct research to improve the use of clinical genomics in everyday health care
  • build and support infrastructure for research collaboration, making data sharing and analysis across Australia easier, more portable, and longer lasting.

Funding is from the MRFF’s Genomics Health Futures Mission.
