$18.83 million for research to improve mental health and prevent mental illness

The MRFF supports research that addresses key national mental health priorities through its Million Minds Mental Health Research Mission. It specifically encourages research to be translated into practice. 

The mission is providing $18.83 million under its 2026 Mental Health Research grant opportunity for medical research and innovation projects that: 

• generate evidence to inform early interventions for new trends in substance use and mental health conditions in children and young adults 
• are led by mid-career researchers to implement evidence-based approaches to improve mental health and wellbeing or prevent mental illness.
