The new Service Provider Contracts have been distributed for signature. The date of effect of the new contracts will be 1 July 2026.
Please note:
- Providers have six months from the date of service in which to submit claims. If there are exceptional circumstances as to why you cannot submit a claim within this 6 month timeframe the Department will assess the validity of these reasons on a case-by-case basis via email at hearing@health.gov.au.
- Providers are required to notify the Department of potential data breaches within three calendar days. Investigation of a potential data breach is not required to be completed within three days. Prompt notification allows the Department to meet its own reporting requirements and to provide early advice if necessary.
- There have been occasions where Hearing Services Program staff have been subjected to inappropriate behaviour. While we recognise that providers may not always agree with or may wish to challenge program decisions, all interactions must be conducted in a respectful and professional manner. The Department expects service providers (and their representatives) to engage constructively and professionally. Where behaviour does not meet these expectations, the Department may take action, including limiting or managing communications, and, where necessary, escalating matters in line with contractual and regulatory obligations. The Department is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all staff.
