The Australian Government intends to amend Part VD of the Health Insurance Act 1973 to enhance the Bonded Medical Program (Program). These amendments have been introduced to Parliament and are currently awaiting consideration. For more details, you can read about the proposed amendments on our website.

Should Parliament pass these amendments, consequential amendments to the Health Insurance (Bonded Medical Program) Rule 2020 (Rule) will be required to give effect to some of the amendments in the bill.

We want to obtain your feedback on potential Rule changes to improve the effectiveness of the Program, its administrative efficiency and/or the participant experience. Your feedback will inform final reform design and implementation planning.

Have your say by completing the questionnaire at Bonded Medical Program – Potential Rule Amendments by 11:59 pm (AEDT), Monday 10 November 2025.
