If you’re raising or working with children under 9 who have developmental concerns, delays or disability, there’s a new resource that can help.

The National Best Practice Framework for Early Childhood Intervention is now available. It explains the key principles and goals that make early childhood intervention services work well for children and their families.

The Framework was developed  by the University of Melbourne for the Australian Government. It was developed with help from researchers and the disability sector.

The Framework can help parents, carers and families understand:

  • how early childhood intervention works
  • what to expect from practitioners
  • how services can be shaped to meet your child’s unique needs.

It also supports practitioners to better understand:

  • how to deliver best-practice support for children and families
  • the principles behind early childhood intervention
  • evidence-bases for decision making.

Every child in Australia has the right to grow up in a family and community that supports their health, development and wellbeing.
