COVID-19 vaccines now available through the National Immunisation Program

From 1 October 2026, COVID-19 vaccines are available free through the National Immunisation Program (NIP) for eligible people.

COVID-19 vaccines are now funded through the NIP, replacing the National COVID-19 Vaccination Program that was introduced during the pandemic. 

Free COVID-19 vaccines are available for: 

  • adults aged 65 years or older 
  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 years and over 
  • adults aged 18 years or older with severe immunocompromise. 

Vaccination continues to be an important way to reduce the risk of serious illness from COVID-19.
