AMRAB advises the Australian Government on prioritising spending from the MRFF – the government’s $25.4 billion long-term investment supporting Australian health and medical research.

Every 5 years, the independent panel sets the vision, aim, and objectives of the MRFF in the Australian Medical Research and Innovation Strategy (Strategy). This involves carefully considering the country’s health needs and identifying areas where increased investment can make the greatest impact.

AMRAB also outlines the MRFF’s focus areas every 2 years in the Australian Medical Research and Innovation Priorities (Priorities).

AMRAB is seeking your feedback on its draft Strategy for 2026-2031 and Priorities for 2026-2028. We invite you to:

  • provide input by completing a survey on our consultation hub by 16 August 2026
  • join our webinar at 11:00am AEST on 4 August 2026 to hear directly from AMRAB about the draft Strategy and Priorities. Professor Kathryn North AC, Chair of AMRAB, will host this information session.
