The MRFF’s $500.1 million Genomics Health Futures Mission supports genomic research to:
- improve the testing and diagnosis of diseases
- help personalise treatment options
- reduce unnecessary interventions and costs.
Genomics Health Futures Mission consultation
The Genomics Health Futures Mission Expert Advisory Panel is reviewing the mission’s vision, goals and investment priorities by refreshing it’s Roadmap and Implementation Plan. These documents were first published in October 2021.
We invite you to contribute to this refresh by completing an online survey on our consultation hub by 8 November 2024.
Your input will inform any further development of the Roadmap and Implementation Plan by the panel.
Panel Chair, Professor Robyn Ward, will host a webinar on the Roadmap and Implementation Plan at 9:45am (AEDT) on 4 November 2024. You will have an opportunity to ask questions following the presentation.
Grant opportunity
The 2024 Genomics Health Futures grant opportunity will provide $50 million for medical research and innovation projects that:
- improve the diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and surveillance of new, emerging or re-emerging infectious diseases
- help reduce medication harm and adverse side effects
- identify groups of the population at high risk of common and complex diseases using polygenic risk scores
- improve polygenic risks scores to better categorise people with common cancers for surveillance and treatment
- improve uptake of clinical genomics into practice
- establish genomics approaches for population cohort research that focus on culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
