We are developing Australia’s first National Health and Climate Strategy to ensure the nation’s health system can meet the needs of Australians in the face of a changing climate.
The strategy will establish a plan to prepare for the health challenges presented by climate change. This includes:
- more frequent and severe weather events
- extreme temperatures
- poor air quality.
The strategy will identify areas to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the health care system and manage the impacts of climate change.
Our consultation paper outlines the proposed objectives and principles of the strategy. It is available for feedback until 24 July 2023.
To provide feedback, visit the Department’s Consultation Hub.
You can complete our quick survey (10–15 minutes to complete), or for more in-depth feedback you can download and complete a submission form. Please send completed forms to Health.Climate.Consultation@health.gov.au, preferably as a Microsoft Word attachment.
We value and respect the diverse perspectives, experiences and knowledge of all members of the community. These perspectives will contribute to the final strategy.
