Changes to aged care higher everyday living fee

Under the new rules, providers must not charge a Higher Everyday Living Fee (HELF) for services residents received at no extra cost before 1 November 2025.  

Essential care and services support aged care residents daily living needs. Aged care homes:  

• are required by law to deliver these services 
• cannot charge more for these services. 

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission may take regulatory action against providers that don’t meet their HELF responsibilities. 

If you think your provider has charged you for optional services you did not agree to, contact the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.
