From 1 January 2026, the Australian CDC will stand as an independent agency, helping Australia prepare for, respond to and prevent public health emergencies.
The new CDC will bring together the best science and expertise to provide trusted, evidence-based advice that protects people and communities across the country.
Work is now under way to move the programs, staff and systems of the interim Australian CDC into the new agency, so it’s ready to deliver from day one.
