Highlights include: 

  • Progressing the recognition of Rural Generalist Medicine as a specialty within the field of General Practice. 
  • Exploring how the National Rural and Remote Nursing Generalist Framework 2023-2027 can be used to support rural health outcomes. 
  • Publishing Implementing Rural Section: a Guide for Medical Colleges and supporting the rollout of the National Medical Workforce Strategy. 
  • Mapping education and training pathways for rural and remote nurses, and identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement. 
  • Promoting place-based education and training  through collaboration with the Regional Education Commissioner. 
  • Establishing the First Nations Peak Organisations Roundtable to discuss key issues and opportunities from the perspectives of First Nations health leaders. 
  • Contributing to the 2024 Regional Telecommunications Review to advocate for digital access in rural health settings. 
  • Maintaining formal engagement structures, including the Advisory Network, Consumer Advisory Group, and Strategic Council.
