Around 2,000 Australians develop brain cancer every year. Over the last 30 years, the number of people surviving other types of cancers has steadily improved. However, the five-year relative survival rate for brain cancer has remained at around 23%.
The 2024 Brain Cancer Discovery and Translation grant opportunity will provide $6 million to support medical research and innovation projects that:
- help us understand the causes of brain cancer
- identify and validate new therapeutic strategies for brain cancer
- develop new therapies for people with brain cancer.
Funding is from the MRFF’s Australian Brain Cancer Mission.
